I.K.O. Kite boarding Tuition (Whats it all about?)
The course for beginners is an Introduction to kite boarding
It consists of 3 sessions which total 10 hours.
The first is on land, the other 2 are in the water.
You will be taught the basic skills which include
- Basic kite flying with a foil kite
- Kite setup
- Equipment choice
- Safety procedures
- Weather awareness
- Body dragging skills
- Water re-launching
- Water start
Please remember that everyone learns at different speeds, so how far you get in the course depends on your individual ability.
The weather cannot be guaranteed and your lesson may take place in anything from 10 knots to 25 knots.
Your Instructor will provide suitable equipment according to the conditions.
On completion of your beginner course, you will receive IKO certification according to your level. (IKO = International Kite boarding Organisation)
If you are keen to continue with Kite boarding after your beginner course you are strongly advised to take further tuition to help you progress quickly and safely. One to One lessons are the most effective way to continue as your Instructor can provide you 100% attention.
For those under 16 years of age we ask that at least 1 parent takes the course to ensure they also fully understand the safety aspects and potential power of these kites.
Please note that if you wish to finish your lesson early, unless it is due to injury, the remaining time will be lost.
