HOBIE CAT SAILING AND CHARTERS

Adrenaline sailing at its best! Hobie Cat trips and charters include a qualified skipper and we offer flexible sailing programs from one hour up to a few days.
You don’t need any previous experience.
If you are experienced and just want to take the boat for the day we have options available as well.
We have a 14ft, 16ft and 18ft available for chartering.
Drum Africa is the only Hobie Cat school and charter company in South Africa teaching on a 16ft and 18ft Hobie Cat from the beautiful and picturesque Langebaan lagoon.
The pristine warmer water and reliable winds provide an idyllic playground for speeds of up to 60km/h in good winds. It’s the most awesome fun you can have in a wetsuit!

HOBIE CAT COURSES

Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate sailor and would like to learn more about sailing we have various course options available for you to quickly learn the ropes and increase your Hobie Cat sailing pleasure.
Sailing in Africa is especially rewarding because of the natural beauty that surrounds you will sailing on the waters of the Langebaan Lagoon.
Based at the Cape Sport Center in Langebaan, Drum Africa is the only Hobie Cat School in South Africa. There are various ailing course options to choose from, check them out below.
- The Half day course will teach you the basics of wind direction, helming a Hobie Cat, main sheet and jib sheet function as well as sail shape.
Duration: 4 hours, includes tuition and sailing.
- If you are serious about making this a way of life, our one day course is for you. It will help you make up your mind as to whether or not you want to make sailing a long term part of your life or not.
Duration: 6 hours, includes tuition, course material and sailing.
- The Beginner course is for the first time buyer of a Hobie Cat, we cover the basics of sailing a Hobie Cat and most importantly - Safety. We teach you how to rig and derig your boat and of course how to sail your Hobie in light winds for the first time. In Hobie Cat terms what goes down must come up, so we will teach you how to right your boat in the event that you capsize.
Duration: 2 days, includes tuition, course material and sailing
- The Intermediate course is designed for the sailor who has been on the water for a year or more and has decided to take it further and get into racing. You will need to know about the finer set-up of the boat and the basic racing rules and starting procedures.

HOBIE YOUTH SAILING
|
|
Drum Africa along with Hobie Cat Youth Club started a program for youth sailors.
The focus being to develop the sport among the youth of South Africa.
We start teaching Hobie sailing to the youth from the age of 10 years old and up.
As a result of the program we have produced a World Champion within a year of training.
Courses are run over a 4-day period in the Langebaan Lagoon.
It includes the basics of rigging the Hobie to physically getting on the Hobie for the first time, de-rigging, safety, capsizing and righting to skippering the boat.
Our qualified instructors are with you every step of the way.

DRAGON SAILING
|

The Dragoon is a Hobie Cat Europe design, manufactured to meet the French Sailing Federation requirements for 12-14 year old to learn and compete on a catamaran.
Being an entry-level catamaran the objectives were essentially to keep costs to a minumum, to maximise safety and increase the performance potential of the Dragoon.

Drum Africa and Prolimit offer a variety of quality sailing products, ranging from wetsuits, harnesses, gloves to booties.
All products are made of the highest quality and some very trendy styles are available to choose from.
